The Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has reinforced its unwavering commitment to strengthening Lagos’ security architecture with the presentation of five refurbished operational vehicles, ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests and raincoats to the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), 651 Base Services Group, in a strategic intervention aimed at enhancing the operational readiness, protection and welfare of personnel safeguarding the state. The donation reflects the Lagos State Government’s sustained investment in equipping security agencies with critical operational assets needed to confront evolving security challenges.

Beyond logistics, the initiative underscores the recognition that well-equipped and well-protected security personnel remain indispensable to maintaining public safety, protecting critical infrastructure and preserving the peace that has ensured that Lagos State retains its pride of place as Nigeria’s safest and most secure state.

The vehicles and operational equipment were presented by the Executive Secretary/CEO of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan to the Commander of 951 Base Service Group, Air Commodore M. A. Imam. He noted that the presentation of ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests and raincoats forms part of the LSSTF’s broader strategy of ensuring that frontline personnel are adequately equipped to carry out their constitutional responsibilities safely and effectively.

Addressing officers and men of the 651 Base Services Group, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan commended the Nigerian Air Force for its professionalism, discipline and invaluable contributions to the security of Lagos and Nigeria. He reaffirmed the Trust Fund’s commitment to providing strategic support to all security agencies operating in Lagos State. “On behalf of the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, the board and management of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, we want to appreciate your unwavering support for Lagos, especially as it affects our security. Your contribution is unparalleled. We can’t equate it to anything, your support.”

According to him, investing in the welfare and protection of security personnel is essential to building a resilient security system capable of responding swiftly to emerging threats. “Thank you so much for all you do for Lagos. We promise that we will continue to encourage you and boost your morale and that’s why we are here today. I want to thank our boss and a big friend of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund, Air Commodore M. A. Imam. We are here to assure you that we are going to give all it takes to encourage you to do more for us.”

He assured the officers that the Lagos State Government, through the LSSTF, would continue to complement the efforts of security agencies by providing operational support that enhances effectiveness, morale and inter-agency collaboration. “This is just the beginning. We are going to do other things that will encourage you so that anytime you get to Lagos, you can give your best. Thank you very much for all you do. We appreciate you immensely.”

Receiving the five operational vehicles and equipment, the Commander of the Nigerian Air Force, 651 Base Services Group, Air Commodore M. A. Imam, expressed profound appreciation to the Lagos State Government and the Lagos State Security Trust Fund for the immense support. He described the donation as another demonstration of the enduring partnership between the LSSTF and security agencies, noting that the protective equipment would significantly enhance the safety and operational efficiency of Air Force personnel deployed across Lagos State.

As part of the visit, Air Commodore Imam conducted Dr. Ogunsan on a guided tour of the facilities of the 651 Base Services Group, showcasing key operational and support infrastructure while highlighting the unit’s readiness and ongoing contributions to national security.

The Executive Secretary CEO of LSSTF Dr Ayodele Ogunsan was accompanied by the LSSTF Director of Administration, Mr. Adegbola Lewis on the visit. Top officers of the Nigerian Air Force were also in attendance at the event.
