The Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu today expressed the commitment of his government to build 36 schools in Ajegunle, Apapa, Lagos in the next few months. He gave this information when a team from Westerfield College UK paid him a visit.
The Governor stated during the meeting at Lagos House, Marina, ‘I spent some time with the leadership team from Westerfield College UK. It was a good opportunity to talk about where we are heading with education in Lagos and how we can work together to give our students more global opportunities.’
‘For us, education is more than just a policy point, it’s one of the pillars of our THEMES+ agenda and the foundation of everything we’re trying to build. I’m firm on the belief that no child in this state should be left behind or out of the classroom.’
‘In a couple of months, we’ll be commissioning 36 schools in Tolu, Ajegunle. We want every child to have a desk in a quality classroom.’
On the successes achieved in education since he assumed office, Sanwo-Olu added: ‘When we came into office, we had only one state university. Today, we have three. We even have a dedicated Ministry of Tertiary Education to make sure our colleges and universities get the specific attention they need.’
‘There is still a lot of work to do, but we are making sure the ladder is there for the next generation to climb,’ he concluded.
