Why has the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) chosen to put its name in the red in recent times? How on earth would you miss out the name of one of your best athletes who participated successfully at your national trials en route to the Commonwealth Games starting this weekend?
But that’s exactly what has happened to the person named above, Favour Onyah. Her name was omitted from the list to represent Nigeria at the Commonwealth Games set to hold in Scotland. I am so angry and shocked at why AFN will repeatedly commit this error on its athletes. So if this 19-year-old applies to represent another country, we will complain that she is unpatriotic, un-Nigerian, and whatsoever.
AFN, please support these young athletes. I have recently seen how our young females are blazing the trail, especially in the relays. I must say we parade a wonderful quartet in both 4X100m and 4X400m. I saw them in Abeokuta, I saw them in Gaborone. I see them winning Olympic medals soon. Omo, those people dey run. AFN epp dem abeg!
On a lighter note, AFN, you omitted Favour Ofili the last time, you have omitted Favour Onyah this time, do you have an axe to grind with the name ‘Favour’?
