In his goodwill message, ‘Mr. Projects of Orile-Agege’ as he is fondly admired by colleagues and members of the public hinted: ‘I really want to appreciate the organizers of this program. It’s always better to be envied than to be pitied. I envy the Ogunsans because they are putting this up for their late parents and as the society, we must take a cue. If God has blessed you, especially those of us who happen to serve in the government, think of what to do for the needy and less privileged. We need to impact them, we need to equip them for the future. I am really impressed with what AKEM Foundation is doing.’
Reminiscing on his achievements, Hon. Babatunde said: ‘When we came in, we came in with three words – to renew, to rebuild, and to restore the glory of Orile Agege. As I look back, I give thanks to God for helping us thus far. We have about 25 primary schools in Orile Agege and I’ve touched nothing less than 23 giving them modern infrastructure, making our schools compete with the private schools. We did not stop at that, we moved to secondary schools even though secondary school is not under my purview. All these children are our children and we have to leave a lasting legacy for them. They should be excited to go to school not that they will be studying under dilapidated structures.’
‘One of what I will write in my handover notes for the incoming chairman is to pay attention to education because that is our tomorrow. Every child must be educated’, Babatunde concluded.
