‘Na who love me I go love’, scratch that, nonsense. That’s not what Christ taught us.
It is common in seasons like this, to observe among Nigerians that ‘since my Muslim friend didn’t give me anything at Sallah, I am also not going to give him/her when it’s Christmas’ and vice versa. Really, is that what love is about? Just to share food and drinks.
What if a weightier matter arise such as that of the Muslim Sheikh who had to save hundreds of Christians from untimely death in a mosque in Jos? What if your friends were able to serve meals last year but are just getting by this year, do you put a knife to their throat for that?
Nigeria is currently living through dire straits in security and economy. Unfortunately, it seems to be getting harder, but that’s when love must prevail the more. Her countrypeople should continue to lend a helping hand to one another through it all.
These annual celebrations are about showing kindness and spreading happiness. If you have the capacity to help, do it. What stops a Christian family from feeding Muslim friends during Sallah, absolutely nothing!
