
The Secretary-General of the United Nations (UN), António Guterres, has received and accredited Jimoh Ibrahim as Nigeria’s Permanent Representative to the multilateral body. Jimoh Ibrahim presented his letter of credence on Monday 20th April 2026 marking the beginning of his posting.
On April 1, the former Senator received his letter of credence from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Nigeria after being cleared to resume duties.
According to a statement issued by Temitope Ajayi, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on media and publicity, Ibrahim assured the UN and the global community that Tinubu would resolve generational problems confronting Nigeria.
Ibrahim also sought the support and cooperation of the international community.
