When leaders say I run an open-door policy, what do they really mean. Do they merely infer that their office doors are open when they are physically present? Do they mean that anyone can enter and speak freely? Do they just mouth it?
I have seen a few leaders and I can conclude that for many of them, having an open door is just a word of mouth. They are just being politically correct. They don’t really care about people.
This leader, the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan is different. After a long day of activities, one would expect that he would relax to a day of fulfillment, which he fittingly deserves. Yet after seeing off all the creme de la creme of the society, he returned to his office to have a time of light talk, chat and fun, what you would simply describe as “gisting”.
Oh my, come and see the camaraderie on display. It was such a beauty to behold as everyone spoke freely about how their lives have been impacted. You can literally feel that people spoke from their hearts, they were not sugarcoating it.
That, for me, is open-door policy on display. Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan practises it in word and in work.
