GOD revealed Himself as ELOHIM (Mighty Creator) to humanity generally, starting with creation, as recorded by Moses in Genesis 1:1 to show His power as the Creator of the universe. He revealed Himself as EL SHADDAI (GOD Almighty/All-Sufficient One) to Abraham (Genesis 17:1) and the Patriarchs (Isaac and Jacob) to establish His covenant and promise of strength.
He revealed Himself as YHWH/YAHWEH/JEHOVAH (I AM WHO I AM/The Self-Existent One) to Moses at the burning bush (Exodus 3:14–15) as His eternal covenant Name for Israel. He revealed Himself as EL ELYON (GOD Most High) to Abraham through the Salem king, Melchizedek (Genesis 14:18–22), to highlight His Supreme Sovereignty over all earthly powers.GOD revealed Himself as EL ROI (The GOD Who Sees) to Hagar in the wilderness when she fled from Sarai (Genesis 16:13). He revealed Himself as ADONAI (Lord and Master) to Abraham (Genesis 18:3), Moses, and others, to signify His Supreme Authority and Ownership.
At different times, and to different people, GOD revealed Himself as JEHOVAH-JIREH (The Lord Will Provide), JEHOVAH-RAPHA (The Lord Who Heals), JEHOVAH-NISSI (The Lord Is My Banner), JEHOVAH-SHALOM (The Lord Is Peace), JEHOVAH-RAAH/ROHI (The Lord My Shepherd), and JEHOVAH-SHAMMAH (The Lord Is There).
But, the greatest revelation of all is JESUS CHRIST Himself as the ultimate and full expression of GOD, and Him revealing GOD to us as “THE FATHER.” (Matthew 6:9 and John 20:17)
Do you know GOD as your FATHER, and JESUS CHRIST as His Son Who came in the flesh? Knowing Him is LIFE, LIGHT and TRUTH.
