With the meeting that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR held with Lagos State House of Assembly membership candidates at his Bourdillon residence today Saturday 30th May 2026, it is now absolutely sure that the battle for Agege Constituency 01 seat is effectively concluded. The winner of the APC primary is Gbenga Abiola. He will be flying the party’s flag at the 2027 elections.
Now that Gbenga Abiola has won the primaries, he is probably standing miles ahead of candidates that will be produced by other parties. This is going by the sheer political strength of APC in Lagos State.
On a personal note, this is perhaps the hottest intraparty pursuit that I have witnessed in Agege politics. I hope that the dust over Agege in the past few weeks will finally be allowed to settle.
I hope that everyone within the APC party structure in Agege will bury the hatchet and work for the overall victory of the party, APC as a whole, and Gbenga Abiola in particular. I wish Gbenga Abiola the best!
