The traditional leaders and people of Agege erupted into a tumultuous welcome as they received one of their illustrious sons, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, home when he attended the Agege Community Security Summit on Thursday, October 8, 2026. The official engagement transformed into an emotional homecoming, as the community seized the opportunity to celebrate the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), who recently marked his 50th birthday.

In a gesture that added colour and warmth to the gathering, Agege stakeholders organised a birthday celebration in honour of Ogunsan, drawing cheers, applause and expressions of affection from traditional leaders, community representatives and residents who welcomed him with unmistakable pride of culture, entertainment and communal living. There was also a special moment to take pictures with political stakeholders, community leaders, old schoolmates, old friends, and other admirers.

The LSSTF chief reciprocated the warmth in a memorable cultural moment, treating his hosts to an old indigenous tune: “Ẹ kú àtijọ́ ṣe dáadáa ni, ṣe àlàáfíà lẹ̀ wà, gbogbo ilé ńkọ́?”, a traditional Yoruba greeting that evokes the warmth of reunion, enquires after people’s wellbeing and extends concern to every household. He also went further to mention Akapo street where he was born as well as the adjoining streets and communities where he enjoyed his childhood.

His beautiful rendition of the old tune brought a nostalgic touch to the occasion, connecting the security summit to the shared cultural heritage and communal bonds that define Agege. It was a moment that reflected the spirit of a son returning to familiar ground and reconnecting with his people beyond the responsibilities of public office.

The celebration coincided with the launch of the Agege Security Trust Fund, making the occasion significant both for the community’s security ambitions and its recognition of one of its own.Demonstrating his commitment to the Agege Local Government’s security initiative, Ogunsan announced the donation of a brand-new operational vehicle and pledged 10 ballistic helmets, bulletproof vests, raincoats and operational boots to support security operations.

Addressing the Summit, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan emphasised that sustainable security depended on collaboration among government, security agencies, the private sector and citizens. Drawing from the LSSTF’s experience since 2007, he encouraged Agege to build a transparent and sustainable community security institution capable of attracting private-sector support and strengthening grassroots protection.

The Agege LGA Chairman, Hon. Vinod Obasa, welcomed the intervention, noting the unwavering commitment of his administration to safety and security. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Fatai Tijani, urged residents to work closely with security agencies through credible information sharing and community cooperation.
