President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has fulfilled his $100,000 promise to the Super Falcons, following their historic victory at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), where Nigeria clinched a record-extending 10th continental title.‎

According to the National Sports Commission, the players have begun receiving payments of about ₦140 million, representing the naira equivalent of the $100,000 reward promised by the President after the team staged a remarkable comeback to defeat hosts Morocco in the final in July 2025.

‎The Super Falcons, who were trailing 2-0, produced a spirited second-half performance to stun the hosts and reclaim the African crown, further cementing their status as the continent’s most successful women’s national team.‎ Team captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, expressed gratitude to the President for fulfilling his promise, describing the gesture as a welcome recognition of the team’s achievement and contribution to Nigerian sports.‎

The payment is another demonstration of President Tinubu’s commitment to rewarding sporting excellence and motivating Nigerian athletes to achieve greater success on the international stage.‎Since assuming office, President Tinubu has been a breath of fresh air for Nigerian sports, with his support extending beyond the Super Falcons to other national teams.‎

The President had similarly promised and delivered $100,000 rewards to members of D’Tigress following their triumph at the 2025 FIBA Women’s AfroBasket, where Nigeria secured a fifth consecutive continental title.‎

The Commission commended President Tinubu for his consistent support for Nigerian athletes and for demonstrating that sporting excellence deserves tangible recognition.‎

The Commission added that the President’s commitment has strengthened confidence among athletes and sports administrators while encouraging a culture of reward, accountability and national pride.
