Dr. David Gibbs, Jr., founder of the Christian Law Association (CLA), made an altar call in a church for commitment and service, and a young couple came forward, weeping. As they walked to the altar, many people in the congregation started weeping too. Puzzled, Dr Gibbs turned to the host pastor, and asked, “Why is the congregation weeping?”
Here’s what the pastor said, paraphrased,…
“That young man and his wife are surrendering their lives to go to the Mission Field in Brazil. He’s an exceptionally skilled medical doctor, trained to practically put together the human brain, and topped his class in med school. He’s probably the most sought after medical professional in the USA, and around the world. He’s been offered jobs and positions in world class hospitals that would put millions of dollars in his bank account, annually, with vacation packages and homes and cars that many would die for! But, he’s laying it all on the altar, to go to a place where he’ll be operating on dirt floors, in sweltering heat.”
Dr Gibbs said, “Three deacons immediately came up to me and said, ‘talk some sense into him. He can send many Missionaries to the fields with the money he’ll make.’ I told them he doesn’t belong to me and he doesn’t belong to them either. He belongs to GOD. When I went to hug him and his wife, and prayed for them and thanked them for making such a huge sacrifice, he said to me, ‘Sir, I know that’s where I should go.’
Romans 8:28 is true for everyone called according to GOD’S PURPOSE.” Do you know what GOD has called you to do? Is your job getting in the way of your CALLING? Are you trapped by your qualifications, position, possessions, self-love and pride?
Yesterday, I heard Apostle Emmanuel Iren say, “If all you testify about is big cars and houses and travels, but you’re not supporting any church or pastor that is being persecuted in the North, then, you’re in error!” Check yourself o! Are you in error or in the WILL OF GOD? Which MISSION, MISSIONARIES, persecuted CHURCH or BRETHREN, are you ENCOURAGING or EMPOWERING with your resources – GOD’S RESOURCES that you have commandeered to yourself? Brother Ananias and Sister Sapphira, REPENT!
