I have had a time of up, close, and personal interaction with my Gen Z friends in the last few days. You know that kind of opportunity that only a camping experience can afford you.
On a camp, you are living a regimented lifestyle, restricted to an environment, and you do practically everything together. Under such a scenario, you get to hear deep stuff. You get to eavesdrop on fears, doubts, and worries locked up in the heart that you will not readily hear about. You get to learn about the joys and happiness and celebrate fun moments.
This camp really made me appreciate my Gen Z friends more. Perhaps the biggest generational battle that ever existed is the one between the Millennials and Gen Z’s. In fact every generation seems to have something against the Gen Z’s. But we are all locked in here on this beautiful planet and must make it work together.
I learned some real good things which often made me chuckle. A Gen Z would be discussing a serious concern and just suddenly interject with an exclamatory Bro (Bruh) meaning I am tired, I am really angry right now, I don’t even know what’s happening again, I am excited among others…And it doesn’t matter who (male or female) they are speaking to.
To me and my Millennial friends, Bro would naturally mean brother or another male. But to them, my Gen Z friends, Bro (or Bruh) apparently means something else. I am learning!
