AXA Mansard Insurance Plc has partnered with the Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) to intensify awareness and prevention efforts against domestic and sexual violence, particularly targeting children, through grassroots sensitisation campaigns across Lagos communities.
The initiative is part of the 2026 AXA Week for Good themed “Being a Child Shouldn’t Be a Risk,” which seeks to enhance public enlightenment, encourage reporting of abuse cases, and strengthen child protection systems at the community level.
Under the partnership, AXA Mansard employee volunteers will conduct door-to-door engagements, while DSVA will provide technical support, training, and guidance. The programme builds on the success of the 2025 collaboration, which focused on school-based interventions to educate children and teachers on abuse prevention.
Chief Marketing Officer of AXA Mansard, Adebola Surakat, explained that this year’s campaign is directed at families, parents, caregivers, and community leaders, noting that statistics show over 60 per cent of child abuse cases involve individuals familiar to the victims. She added that the initiative will cover six communities, where residents will be educated on recognising abuse, reporting channels, and safe parenting practices.
Surakat emphasised AXA Mansard’s commitment to social advocacy, highlighting that in 2025, 96 per cent of employees dedicated volunteer hours to awareness campaigns against domestic and sexual violence.
Executive Secretary of DSVA, Titilola Vivour-Adeniyi, commended the sustained partnership, stressing that abuse thrives in silence and ignorance. She noted that taking advocacy directly into communities would empower parents and caregivers to identify warning signs, protect vulnerable children, and report cases promptly.
AXA Week for Good is the flagship programme under AXA Mansard’s employee volunteering initiative, AXA Hearts in Action, through which employees contributed over 20,000 volunteer hours in 2025.
