This morning, I read about 90 year old Professor Felix Oragwu. He was the head of Biafra Research and Production (RAP) that developed ‘Ogbunigwe’ (a locally fabricated bomb), and successfully processed palm oil to power jet airplane during the Biafra-Nigeria genocidal war. As a young man, many years ago, I visited the Sea School, Apapa, and when I saw some of the equipment and innovations that the Igbos crafted during the war, I became totally convinced that if the Biafrans had seceded successfully, they would have become like Germany or Japan. And, it makes you wonder why NIGERIA buried those inventions instead of building them up. So sad!
Today, I’m reliably informed that Indonesia celebrated the successful processing of palm oil to power airplane, a feat that our own man, Felix Oragwu, and his team, achieved 56 years ago. Unfortunately, Nigeria is making the same stupid mistake with INNOSON MOTORS. When are we going to stop fighting PROGRESS and ADVANCEMENT in this country? When are we going to put tribal sentiments aside for national GOOD? When are we going to stop deceiving ourselves with the lies of ‘One Nigeria’ and Patriotism?! I have said it, and written it before, one TRUE test of SINCERITY in our leaders would be the deliberate DEVELOPMENT and PROMOTION of local brands like INNOSON MOTORS.
Nigeria is not poor! We have NEVER been poor! We only have asinine leaders who are determined to pauperize and ‘povertize’ Nigeria, permanently! ‘Sugbon, OLUWA ko ni funwon se, loruko JESU KRISTI. Pampe OLOUN ma mu won, laipe laijinaa!’ I celebrate the creativity of my Igbo brothers and sisters. If we would just combine it well with the intelligence of the Yorubas, and the agrarian prowess of the Hausas, we would be super powers in our own right and space.
That will happen when we ALL: Yoruba, Ibo and Hausa, ARISE and say, “NO MORE!” to the evil politicians and unproductive civil servants, who spin various lies and propaganda to deceive and divide us, especially during elections and government allocations. Enough is enough!
