Barely 6 weeks since the inauguration of the new Chairmen of the 57 LGAs and LCDAs in Lagos State by the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, some Chairmen have hit the ground running with innovative ideas and impactful projects. Mayor Jubril Kolawole Emilagba, the Executive Chairman of Lagos Mainland LGA is a sterling example.
With 500 GCE forms already distributed free to fulfill the aspirations of young and brilliant school leavers who desire higher education, exercise books set to be distributed to primary school students when they resume school next week and some ongoing renovations in many primary schools, Emilagba is lighting up the torch that will keep shining for generations with his investments in education.
To spearhead his campaign for safety and security in the LGA, Mayor Emilagba yesterday Wednesday 10th September flagged off the total reconstruction of the Odaliki Police post, TheMediaGood Newspaper can report.
In his address at the event, the Lagos Mainland council chair, Emilagba highlighted the need for the overhaul of the Police post. ‘The safety and security of our people remain our top priority. We recognize that without peace, development cannot thrive. That is why we continue to invest in infrastructure, logistics, and partnership with security agencies to ensure our communities are safe, our businesses can flourish, and our residents can live without fear. Lagos Mainland must be a place where every citizen feels secure, day and night.’
On the project, Mayor Jubril Kolawole Emilagba said: ‘This marks another milestone in our commitment to good governance as we officially commence the total reconstruction of Odaliki Police Post. This project is not just about rebuilding a structure, but about strengthening the security architecture of our communities, giving our people renewed confidence that their safety and wellbeing remain at the heart of this administration.’
‘Our government has consistently embarked on key infrastructural projects to improve the living conditions of our people. These include the reconstruction of the road network from Jebba through Tapa Street to Okobaba at Ebute Metta East, as well as Oroku Road at Apapa Road, Ebute Metta West. Once completed, these projects will not only ease movement but also open up new opportunities for trade, business, and community development’, Emilagba added.
In the education sector, TheMediaGood Newspaper gathered from the Chairman, ‘our administration has distributed 500 free GCE forms, launched Tutorial Programs, and is preparing to distribute free exercise books across all public schools in Lagos Mainland. Renovation works have already commenced at U.N.A. Primary School, Oyingbo, while flooding challenges at Kadara Primary School have been effectively addressed. Furthermore, we are committed to establishing ICT centers in all public primary schools, powered by sustainable solar energy, to prepare our children for a digital driven future.’
On the Police post works, he promised: ‘By the mercy of Allah, we now commence the total reconstruction of Odaliki Police Post. Upon completion, we will not only hand over a modern facility but also provide a vehicle to strengthen security operations in the area. In addition, before the end of this year, we shall also provide operational vehicles to both Iponri Police Station and Denton Police Station, ensuring our security agencies are better equipped to serve and protect our people.’
Emilagba assured Lagos mainland residents that he is not resting on his oars, ‘With faith in Almighty Allah and the support of our people, we are confident that this administration will continue to deliver meaningful projects that guarantee safety, progress, and prosperity for all.’
