God is mindful of you, or let me put it the way I love to, the mind of God is full of you. You can find His mind in the Word. There is a Word for you.
Let me tell you the story of how a childhood dream to fly on an aircraft came to pass by finding the Word and standing on it till fulfilment. Let me tell you how ‘who are these that fly as a cloud and as the doves to their windows’ (Isa.60:8, KJV) got me into an aircraft.
I could literally touch the wings of an aircraft when I stand on the balcony of the house I lived as a boy because of how low they flew over me. It fired me to believe that it is really possible to fly within one very soon. But where should the resource come to make the travel, I don’t want to join the stats of the stowaways I had read in the newspapers.
Anyways, I knew I had a resource, intangible, invaluable, incorruptible – the Word. I found the Word, not as a boy but as an undergrad. I began to stand on the Word from then till it happened this Easter.
Let me fill that in with real life questions. Yomi, you started working immediately after NYSC, that’s some 10 years, weren’t you making money, couldn’t you save up enough to make your childhood dream come true, isn’t that what others do, why must you wait for one ‘flurry’ prophecy in a good ol’ book to materialize?
Well, because I believe that the Bible is not a bunch of ‘packaged’ writings concocted by some Jewish and Greek characters, because I don’t think it is some old mother’s tales and fables which have no relevance in today’s confusing milieu, and because I find my life ingrained in that volume which existed long before I came and would exist way beyond I leave. This is why I waited for that aspect of me to be fulfilled, too.
Maybe that seems too mundane to you but I have also seen the Word snatch me from the jaws of death, I have seen the Word of God heal bodies, I have seen the Word transform lives gone deep into drug addiction and depression. This is why I believe in the Word to meet the most basic needs and the very difficult issues of life.
