In public service, careers are often measured by the offices occupied; but many holders distinguish themselves for the confidence they inspire, the crises they manage, and the institutions they strengthened. For Hon. Tayo Akinmade Ayinde, Chief of Staff to the Lagos State Governor and a Member of the Board of Trustees of the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF), the story is one of disciplined service shaped by security experience, strategic political engagement and a deep understanding of the machinery of government.

As Mr. Tayo “The Buffalo” Ayinde marks his 62nd birthday today, August 24, 2026, the Executive Secretary/CEO of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan, celebrates him as an exceptional public servant and security-minded leader whose contributions continue to resonate across Lagos’ governance and security landscape.

The LSSTF CEO who described Mr. Ayinde as a “security icon and a dependable pillar of Lagos’ security architecture,” said his presence on the LSSTF Board adds invaluable experience to the Fund’s mission of strengthening security agencies across the state. The LSSTF has benefited immensely from his wealth of experience in security and governance.

“Mr. Tayo Ayinde represents the rare combination of intelligence, discipline, political wisdom and loyalty to public service. His security background gives him a unique understanding of what our security agencies require, while his experience at the centre of Lagos governance enables him to appreciate the bigger picture.”

“On behalf of the LSSTF family, I celebrate a big brother, a leader and a true Lagosian. May God grant you greater wisdom, strength, good health and many more years of impactful service,” Ogunsan said.

Born on August 24, 1964, Mr. Ayinde’s career has traversed intelligence, security, politics, administration and public service. A former officer of the State Security Service, where he served until his retirement in 2009, he later became a key political strategist and was appointed Chief of Staff to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu in 2019, a position he has continued to occupy through the administration’s second term. The Presidency also previously commended his diligence, dedication and exemplary devotion to duty as a staunch champion of the Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR candidacy.

As “Mr. Buffalo”, a sobriquet associated with his resilience and strategic strength, enters another year, the celebration goes beyond longevity. It is a salute to a career built around service, strategy and institutional loyalty. It is also a worthy celebration of a Lagos public servant whose influence has extended from the security corridors to the political and administrative heart of the state.
