YOUTHS ARE ‘THE HEARTBEAT OF LAGOS’ – GOV. SANWO-OLU

The Governor of Lagos State, Gov. Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu yesterday described the youth population as the heartbeat of Lagos to highlight the significant roles that they are playing in the socioeconomic and political development of the state. He promised that his administration will continue to make available the required opportunities that will make youths thrive, TheMediaGood Newspaper can report.

The Governor made this known at the International Youth Day Summit organized by the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende. The summit is a culmination of a week-long activity which the Commissioner described as ‘a celebration of potentials, innovation, and the future we are building together.’

The summit had revered speaker, Fela Durotoye addressing the Youths on nation building. Further, dummy cheques ranging from NGN 1 million to NGN 3 million were presented to the 10 contestants of the Amplifier Business Clinic.

The Governor stated: ‘Our administration’s commitment to our youth is clear. We will continue creating spaces, programmes, and opportunities that empower you to lead, innovate, and thrive.’

‘Through the THEMES+ agenda, we have placed youth empowerment and social inclusion at the centre of our work. From initiatives like the Amplifier Business Clinic and Pitch Contest, which provide mentorship, training, and financial support, to international exposure programmes such as the Lagos State Youth Study Tour to Queen’s University in Canada, we are opening doors for you to learn, grow, and contribute.’

‘Today, I celebrate our young people. I celebrate your creativity, resilience, and drive. You are the heartbeat of Lagos.’

‘Lagos thrives because of you, and together, we will keep building a greater Lagos’, Sanwo-Olu concluded.
