Some two years ago, I wrote about late Dr. Myles Munroe, lauding him as a mentor, and multi-talented Man of GOD, whom I respected and valued dearly. A Christian brother read that piece, and said he was shocked I had written such kind words about a man who was nothing but ‘antichrist’, and proceeded to send me videos of where Myles Munroe had supposedly preached heresy. At best, after watching the video, I realized that he misheard, misinterpreted, and misunderstood the depth of Dr Munroe’s words. I told him that much, but he wouldn’t see reason. So, I left him to his conclusion. May the LORD give him LIGHT, in JESUS MIGHTY NAME.
Few weeks ago, I wrote about Pastor Joel Osteen. He’s my favorite preacher on Cable TV, and I watch his program almost every morning before leaving the house. A younger minister in the Lord, who reads my writeups almost religiously, and respects me a lot, expressed his shock in the fact that I even listen to Osteen, stating his misgivings about the man. I told him I knew all those things were being said about Osteen, and that, none of us, as long as we’re in this flesh, is perfect. Unlike the other fellow, he seemed to see some good reasoning in my submission, even if not totally; and, we’re still friends.
Now, here’s my submission on such matters: none of us is without shortcomings, in one area or two. There is not one preacher, alive or dead, rich or poor, that has not been spoken against at one time or another (including DA) – some, more than others! Within the first two years of joining our church in Ibadan, we heard some members say things that weren’t too nice about their Lead Pastor; things that could have made us rethink our decision about staying there. But, we had our own CONVICTION about the church and the setman, especially after reading his autobiography – ‘Scars of Faith.’ So, if you go by everything you hear or read about pastors and other GOD’S servants, you’ll have no one to listen to again o, because, none of us is that good. No, not one! Bishop David Oyedepo once said that one of the most insightful things he ever heard about the Holy Spirit came from a drunkard preacher. If you position your HEART well enough, you can be blessed by anyone.
Selah!
