The University of Ilesa, Ilesa, Osun State has declared all programmes in its Faculty of Education tuition-free from 100-level till graduation. The state-owned institution made this decision in consideration and deep concern for the general dwindling enrollment of candidates in all programmes in the Faculty of Education and the need to save the noble teaching profession from extinction. With this move, TheMediaGood Newspaper can report that students admitted to study education programmes in the University will study tuition-free only having to pay certain affordable incidental charges.

The press statement of the PRO of the Osun state-owned university, Mr Abimbola Tooki indicates that the implementation of the new policy will take effect from the 2024/2025 academic session. According to the statement, the following education programmes are offered by the University of Ilesa, Ilesa, Osun State:

  • B. Ed. Integrated Science
  • B. A. Ed. English Language
  • B. Sc. Ed. Political Science
  • B. Sc. Ed. Economics
  • B. Ed. Social Studies
  • B. Ed. Guidance and Counselling
  • B. Ed. Adult and Continuing Education
  • B. Sc. Ed. Agricultural Science
  • ⁠B. Sc. Ed. Computer Science
  • B. A. Ed. Music
  • B. A. Ed. Business Education
  • B.Sc.Ed. Educational Management
  • B.Sc. Ed. Educational Technology
  • B. Sc. Ed. Health Education
  • B. Sc. Ed. Chemistry Education
  • B. Sc. Ed. Physics Education
  • B. Sc. Ed. Mathematics Education
  • B. Sc. Ed. Environmental Education

‘It is believed that this decision which is in tandem with the integral action plan of the Osun State Government under His Excellency, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, in getting qualified teachers appointed to teach in the lower levels of the educational sector which will yield the desired objective and will also help the nation at large’, the University management expressed optimism.
