The First Lady of Nigeria, Sen. Oluremi Shade Tinubu, has urged stronger global collaboration and sustained investment in science as the world marks World Health Day 2026.

In her message commemorating the day, themed “Together for Health. Stand with Science,” the First Lady emphasized that collective action and innovation remain central to addressing global health challenges.

“Today, on World Health Day 2026, the theme ‘Together for Health. Stand with Science’ reminds us that progress in health depends on innovation and strong collaboration across nations and sectors,” she stated.

Highlighting the transformative role of scientific partnerships, Sen. Tinubu noted that such collaborations have historically helped humanity overcome major health threats and continue to shape pathways toward healthier living.

“Scientific partnerships have helped humanity overcome many health challenges and continue to guide us toward healthy living,” she added.

The First Lady also drew attention to the growing importance of the One Health approach, which promotes a holistic view of health across ecosystems.

According to her, “the well-being of people, animals, plants, and our environment is deeply interconnected,” underscoring the need for integrated policies and cross-sector cooperation.

First Lady Tinubu urged the global community to prioritize health system strengthen evidence-based solutions.

“As we mark this important day, as a global community, let us continue to support science, invest in health systems, and work together to build a healthier and a more resilient world for all,” she concluded.
