YORUBA NATION AGITATORS AT OYO STATE GOVERNMENT SECRETARIAT, IBADAN

Did you hear what happened in Ibadan last Saturday? Some jesters (thank GOD we can call them that now) invaded the Oyo State Government Secretariat and desperately tried to proclaim the Oduduwa/Yoruba Nation. They were quickly rounded up and dealt with by the military and other forces. We can thank GOD that no serious harm was done to innocent citizens of the State, and country, before the miscreants were apprehended, but, that’s one invasion that should NEVER have happened if adequate SECURITY MEASURES had been around the Secretariat in the first place. The ineptitude, and greed, of our civil servants is going to boomerang on them someday if they refuse to tow the path of efficiency and effectiveness.

My submission above comes from an experience I had in that same Secretariat about 14 months ago, and very recently, last week Thursday. Some 14 months ago, I had persuaded some like-minded brethren to join me in praying over certain strategic locations in Oyo State. We started with the University College Hospital (UCH), then University of Ibadan, BCOS, and Oyo State Secretariat. All our prayer walks were done on Saturdays. I was quite surprised that we were not stopped at the gate on the Saturday we drove into the Secretariat for the prayer walk. I had anticipated, and concluded in my mind, that if we were prevented from entering, we would do the prayer walk in the garden/round-about, in front of the Secretariat. Our prayer walk lasted for about 45 minutes, yet, nobody came to ask what we were doing walking up and down the premises. While there, an Okada-man rode in to drop someone. I expressed my concern to a senior official friend who works in the Secretariat, and asked him to ensure SECURITY IS BEEFED UP in that government installation. I want to believe he did. Possibly, his warning (and mine) was not taken seriously.

Last Thursday (a PUBLIC HOLIDAY), I drove into the same Secretariat unchallenged. I had gone there to keep an appointment. It shouldn’t be! People shouldn’t be able to go in and out of Government Secretariats like that, on weekends or during holidays, especially if they are not ID carrying employees. For their own GOOD/SECURITY, government workers must be more SECURITY CONSCIOUS, and take responsibility for their own well-being, in and outside of their offices. We ALL must learn to do same.

If the Adeyi-Bodija residents had been more SECURITY CONSCIOUS and RESPONSIBLE, perhaps the keepers of the devastating explosives would have been identified, and reported to necessary authorities, and prevented that horrible explosion. Let’s ALL be our BROTHERS’ KEEPERS. Like DA, say/write something about the ills around you. Don’t keep quiet over what is wrong. It could very well boomerang on you in the future. Evil shall not happen to us, in JESUS MIGHTY NAME. Amen. We must become MORE SECURITY CONSCIOUS/RESPONSIBLE in our estates, churches, mosques and offices. The ALMIGHTY GOD WATCHES over us, but He’s asked us to WATCH and PRAY. Take RESPONSIBILITY!

Do it!

DA
