May we not eat cake into trouble, the Yoruba of that expression is sweeter
While I was eating a birthday cake on Sunday, a friend narrated how that in a school, the teachers shared a whole cake instead of half the cake to the schoolchildren. This action was said to have incurred the chagrin of the celebrant’s mother who swiftly rushed to the school to harangue the school administrator.
To my shock, the story continued with the school administrator ordering all her teachers to go to the woman’s house to apologize for their inaction. Why? the woman is one of the key supporters of the school.
I found it so laughable that a mother can get so angry to the extent of rushing to her child’s school to argue over cake, that the school administrator can order her teachers to go beg a parent because of birthday cake, and that the teachers can ‘file out on a straight line’ to the class of their ‘headmistress’ parent.
It’s a new low, is that what schooling has turned to in my country?
Happy resumption to all our children jare, may they not eat cake into trouble!
