Some people only see beautiful cars and pretty ladies when they are on the streets, in restaurants, or just going about their daily activities. No so for Officer Scott Bass – a thoughtful and kind policeman.
The Story:
Sergeant Scott Bass (White man) noticed Jalisa Corbett (Black woman) walking in the cold and rain for two hours to her job at Bojangles, a 6-7 mile commute. He had observed that she walks that route, morning and evening, every day, no matter the weather. He began giving her rides and sought to help her further.
Scott spoke with the Walmart store in the neighborhood, and they gave Jalisa a bicycle, which Scott reasoned would cut the two hour commute to 30 minutes. The story went viral, and the two appeared on the Steve Harvey show. On air, Steve surprised Jalisa with a brand new 2018 Ford Fiesta SE to ensure she would never have to walk in the rain again. In addition to the car, she was given $5,000.
This story highlights the positive actions and impacts of law enforcement, with Scott being recognized for his compassion, and the huge difference he’s made in the life of a struggling citizen.
What about you, what do you see when you drive/walk through the streets? Do you ever notice the distressed and burdened when you go about your job? Like Scott, do you look out for the well-being of others?
That’s exactly how our feeding outreach to the mentally challenged on the streets of Ibadan started in 2019.
Today, open your eyes/heart, and GOD will show you who to HELP.
Have a lovely day.
