
The University of Benin has announced the historic inauguration of the newly incorporated Board of Trustees of the University of Benin Trust Development Fund. Renowned politician, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu would chair the Board.
TheMediaGood Newspaper can report that the inauguration ceremony, convened on behalf of Management, Staff, Students, and Alumni of the institution, will be held tomorrow Monday, February 16, 2026, at the Akin Deko Auditorium, Ugbowo Campus, beginning at 3:00 p.m. Guests are expected to be seated by 2:30 p.m.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, will host the event, while the inauguration will be performed by the Chairman of the Governing Council, Prof. Shuaibu Umaru.
According to a statement signed by the Registrar, Ademola A. Bobola, the inauguration will be a significant milestone in the university’s efforts to strengthen institutional funding, expand infrastructure, and deepen stakeholder participation in its development agenda.

The newly constituted Board of Trustees comprises distinguished professionals and stakeholders with Pastor (Dr.) Osagie A. Ize-Iyamu as Chairman while Prince (Dr.) Richard Oma Ahonaruogho, SAN, will act as the Secretary. Other members are Professor Edoba B. Omoregie, SAN, Emmanuel Olakunle Oriazuwa, Esq., Mr. Alexander Imuetinyan Eronmwon, Dr. (Mrs.) Loretta Oduware Ogboro-Okor, and Kingsley Imuentinyan.
The University of Benin Trust Development Fund is designed to mobilise resources to support strategic projects, enhance academic excellence, and improve learning facilities within the institution.
