This is good news to Nigerians and other Africans who have been impacted by the internet disruption which happened recently as a result of undersea cable cuts across the West coast of Africa. African countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, Liberia, Côte d’Ivoire, South Africa among others were greatly affected. This disruption commenced around 14th March 2024.
Operators such as MTN and MainOne announced that their services are fully operational. Bayobab Group, a subsidiary of MTN Group had yesterday, Tuesday 19th March stated that it has now successfully restored its operations and recovered over 3 Terabits per second (Tbps) of capacity across its footprint.
The company added that it prioritized the restoration of the service. This is why it activated new cables to increase interconnectivity and establish alternative routes, thereby bolstering its network resilience.
