The Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) has announced the shortlisted applicants for the conferment of the prestigious rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria, SAN, for the year 2024. The list, released on Monday, July 1, includes 87 advocate applicants and 11 academic applicants.
TheMediaGood Newspaper can report that notable among the advocate applicants are Monday Ubani, Oluronke Adeyemi and Mofesomo Tayo-Oyetibo. The academic applicants list featured professors such as Prof. John Agbonika, Prof. Osy Nwebo, and Prof. Nlerum Okogbule.
A statement by the Chief Registrar of the Supreme Court of Nigeria and Secretary of the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee, Hajo Bello, stressed that the publication of the shortlisted applicants’ names does not indicate their success in the process. He urged the general public to comment on the integrity, reputation, and competence of the shortlisted applicants.
Bello further stated that the final list of successful SAN applicants will be announced by the LPPC after a rigorous screening process. Bello said the screening includes an assessment of their professional competence, integrity, and contributions to the legal profession.
