SO MUCH HELPLESSNESS AND HOPELESSNESS IN THE FACE OF TREMENDOUS POWER!

As I listened to the news, and analysts, this morning, I wept inwardly for the state of our country. I knew, and wrote about many of the things unfolding now, years ago, but some myopic religious bigots thought otherwise. Beyond bad leadership, bad THINKING, or lack of THINKING, got us here.

One analyst decried the mentality of many Nigerians (and, unfortunately, including my church brethren) – the same warped mentality that led us – as a country – to this deplorable condition that is threatening to kill most Nigerians with poverty, deprivation, aggravation and destitution.

Talking about the shameful action of a member of the House of Representatives, Alex Ikwechegh, who assaulted an e-hailing (Bolt) driver that went to deliver a package to him; and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, for talking down on some property developers in Abuja; one of the analysts lamented the master-servant mindset between the leaders and the led in Nigeria, as well as the self-centered ATTITUDE of most Nigerians that has encouraged and empowered that master-servant relationship.

He called it the, ‘Ka sha ti jeun, ka ti kole’ mentality. It’s the mindset of, ‘As long as my own needs are met, it doesn’t matter what happens to the rest of you!’ That’s the asinine mentality that got us here, that has empowered our leaders to treat us as nobodies and nonentities.

It is that same mentality that makes us sing such spiritually dry songs like, “Oore to se mi poju ti e lo!” Or, “Emi ni makoko jeri s’agbara OLUWA!” Or, “Ma ri temi se nibe!” This is perhaps the fourth time I am writing it this year, that, perhaps, THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE OF THE CHURCH TODAY, ESPECIALLY IN NIGERIA/AFRICA, IS THE FACT THAT CHRISTIAN BELIEVERS ARE THINKING, TALKING, BEHAVING, AND LIVING, LIKE UNBELIEVERS.

There’s hardly any difference between most Nigerian Church goers (and the so-called ‘born again’ Christians) and the wayward leaders, and devious civil servants, all over the country. Until Scriptures/Doctrines like Philippians 2:3-5 and Romans 12:16-21 are TAUGHT and EMPHASIZED and IMBIBED in our churches, and lived out by our SPIRITUAL LEADERS themselves, nothing much shall CHANGE in Nigeria.

A TRUE Christian should be OTHERS-minded, but, that’s very very far from being the case with most Nigerian Christians.

Too bad!

So sad!

The TRUE CHANGE must begin in the NIGERIAN CHURCH, and foremost with our PASTORS (G.Os, Bishops, Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Teachers, ‘Olusos’, etc!) Let CHRIST be seen in them, and in everyone of us who profess/confess the NAME OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST. There’s too much deceitfulness and hypocrisy in the Nigerian Church.

There is tremendous POWER at our disposal, but our selfish, self-centered greed, is robbing us of it.

Repent, brothers and sisters, REPENT!

Selah!
