SIR/MA, DO YOU KNOW WHAT HUMILITY IS?!

There are many Christians in Nigeria – at least, many church goers, even though very few of them are actually like CHRIST in character. Many Nigerian Christians are really more like Lucifer in their conduct and lifestyle, than CHRIST. A typical Nigerian Christian has ‘church-life,’ ‘work-life,’ ‘community-life,’ and ‘house-life.’ And, the four are completely different from each other. Ah! Naija!

Apart from the HOLINESS/SINLESSNESS of CHRIST, one other attribute that stood Him out on earth was His HUMILITY. ‘JESU Humble e jo!’ But then, is it preachers who want to ride, literally, on the backs of their members into church auditorium that would teach HUMILITY? Or, is it the ones who want to live as kings and billionaires, and fly private jets, that would preach HUMILITY? Please, permit me to use that over-flogged expression, “YOU CAN’T GIVE WHAT YOU DON’T HAVE NAU!” Many of our spiritual leaders are not CHRIST-LIKE, hence, the state of the Nigerian Church – a saltless and lightless congregation of hypocrites, mostly!

In my daily endeavors to change that unholy narrative, I meet with all kinds of resistance (subtle and melodramatic) – brethren who think they are ‘somebody’, and know more than the rest of us, just because they are titled and entitled; or because they have ‘a little change’ in their pockets, as someone put it on Saturday. My ATTITUDE towards such conceited souls is, ‘to blazes with you and your titles, and money!’ And, that ATTITUDE comes from Luke 16:15. What I don’t see in CHRIST, I don’t applaud in anyone.

So, whoever you are, or think you are, or are called by your sycophants, PLEASE, LEARN THE HUMILITY OF CHRIST, and you’ll truly see how little you, me, and all Humanity, are before HIM. None of us: anointed, rich, powerful, influential, connected, etc., is as important as we think o! Our importance (from successful ministry, business or career) is only found/embedded in the GOODNESS OF GOD, and if that be the case, then where cometh the hubris?! Hey, as they say in the hustling world, “E lo sempe! E je lo mellow! E humble ara yin o!”
Selah o!
