The Presidential Power Initiative (PPI), a project plan aimed at improving electricity supply in Nigeria which was signed in 2019 by Germany and Nigeria is expected to get speedup to completion soon. This follows the agreement witnessed by Pres. Bola Tinubu and German Chancellor Olaf Scholz in Dubai, UAE on sidelines of COP28Summit, TheMediaGood Newspaper can report.
The agreement was signed by Mr. Kenny Anuwe, MD/CEO of FGN Power Company and Ms. Nadja Haakansson, Senior VP and MD (Africa) for Siemens Energy.
The press release by Chief Ajuri Ngelale noted that since
Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR
assumed office, he has consistently advocated the accelerated realization and expansion of the PPI.
The agreement signed today will see to end-to-end modernization and expansion of Nigeria’s electric power transmission grid with the full supply, delivery and installation of Siemens-manufactured equipment under the timeline of 18-24 months.
The PPI, formerly known as Nigeria Electrification Roadmap Initiative, was the outcome of Angela Merkel’s visit to Abuja in August 2018.
