The General Manager of Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), Balikis Adebiyi Abiola has urged Lagosians who had registered on the LASRRA database prior to 2018 to come out en masse to revalidate their data in their over 60 offices across the state. She also informed other Lagosians, including those who have lived in Lagos for 3 months and above, to register with the agency. The system is an easy process which can start online to end up in a LASRRA office. This becomes imperative for Lagos State Government to properly plan and effectively allocate resources for Lagosians.

The General Manager of Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA), Balikis Adebiyi Abiola gave this important note yesterday as the agency set up another office at the Marina train station. This is to make it easy for Lagosians to register and revalidate on the database. It would be recalled that Lagos State Government established the Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) in 2013 to register all residents of Lagos State, irrespective of age, gender, ethnicity, religious affiliations or nationality.

The LASRRA GM, Balikis Abiola told TheMediaGood Newspaper in an interview, ‘We are responsible for registering anybody that lives in Lagos. Everyone who has lived in Lagos for at least 3 months needs to be captured on LASRRA database.’

‘This allows for planning and effective allocation of resources so we ask for information from people – names, biodata, demographic information, where they live, what kind of house they live, we also collect biometrics which enable us to properly plan who is in Lagos, where they live, how can we support them, what can of things we need to do to make lives of Lagos residents better,’ Trek Africa Newspaper gathered.

‘LASRRA provides Lagos State Government with data at our fingertips, for instance, to know how many schools to build, to allocate hospitals. It is also good if you want to access certain Lagos services like LASHMA health insurance, LSETF loan etc.’

Balikis Adebiyi Abiola added: ‘If you have registered for LASRRA before 2018, you need to revalidate because that will allow us to update our records. It is something you need to do. This is not for us to chase people out of Lagos but to serve Lagos better. We have over 60 stations across Lagos in the LGAs and LCDAs. We also have in schools like LASU, LASUSTECH, and now we are at Marina train station for convenience of our people.’

‘We know Lagosians are busy. You can start the process online for about 5 minutes, then we finish up offline. You will get a temporary card first and will be notified when your cars are ready within few weeks’, Abiola concluded.
