President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR has unveiled the Nigerian Gas Trading, Clearing and Settlement Platform, marking the country’s first regulated online marketplace for natural gas.
The platform, formally known as the Gas Trading Licence, Clearing House and Settlement Authorization, introduces real-time pricing, standardised contracts, transparent transactions and guaranteed payment systems in a sector previously shaped by opaque, closed-door arrangements.
With this move, Nigeria joins a small group of African countries such as Egypt and South Africa that operate formal, commodity-style gas trading platforms.
