I was conversing with a colleague at work moments ago, and he told me about a man who was ‘eased out’ of the system because of his greed and underhand practices. He was highly placed, earning a fat salary, with huge fringe benefits, yet, he mischievously aligned with a bank, and a State government, drawing salaries from both of them, to promote favorable news for them, and kill the ones they didn’t want reported. His sins eventually caught up with him, and he fell from his highly exalted position. Self-centeredness and greed are a terrible combination. Drop them in 2024!
There are people reading this, who have relocated abroad, but are still drawing salaries from the State or Federal government agencies they were working for while in Nigeria. Haba! Greed! Greed!! Greed!!! And, some of these avaricious people will say they are ‘Christians’ o! ‘Awon ole jatijati!’ You are denying others that much needed opportunity and space by your unscrupulous deed. Drop that greedy tendency with this year, or, it will drop you (SHAMEFULLY) in 2025!
Greed, avarice, self-centeredness, corruption, and the other evils plaguing Nigeria, are perpetrated by people, including some reading this very write-up. Our churches and mosques are replete with members who steal from the different organizations (public and private) that they work for – religious, but devilish worshippers!
Some of you are taking to your families (spouses, children and siblings) what should be shared to staff members in the office – ‘Ole!’ ‘Barao!’ Thief! You’re as bad, if not worse than, our political leaders – the renowned kleptocrats! Stop it! Stop it now! Let greed and self-centeredness go with 2024. Enough is enough!
