The Director-General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has issued a public alert warning Nigerians about a newly circulating AI-manipulated video or any other previous ones falsely attributed to her, TheMediaGood Newspaper reports.
In her statement released today Tuesday on her verified X (formerly Twitter) account, she cautioned the public to disregard any posts or videos featuring her image on Instagram, Facebook, or WhatsApp, stressing that she does not share content on those platforms.
“I only post on Twitter/X,” she reiterated, noting that any material appearing elsewhere is fabricated and potentially being used to deceive unsuspecting individuals.
“As I repeatetdly said, I never post anything on Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp. Anything emanating from these sources with my image is not from me. I only post on Twitter/X. I just don’t want people to be duped,” she warned.
She confirmed that relevant authorities are already addressing the issue but urged Nigerians to stay vigilant.
Dr. Okonjo-Iweala encouraged the public to rely solely on her verified Twitter/X account for authentic communications, emphasizing that the warning is aimed at preventing people from being duped by impersonators and AI-generated misinformation.
