OF MARYAM SANDA AND PREROGATIVE OF MERCY

Share

(this is for Christians only, please note)

I am not joining issues on the constitutionality, legality, or morality of what Pres. Bola Ahmed Tinubu did last week and please don’t ask me about it. I only want to share my thoughts with people of the same Christian Faith.

The idea of Mercy in itself, as the Bible taught, is that ‘unfair’ condition which absolves you of blame or suffering, irrespective of the sin you committed and the ‘just’ punishment which should ‘normally’ accrue to you. It puts you at an advantage, and doesn’t care what the vox populi is. ‘Therefore God has mercy on whom he wants to have mercy’ (Romans 9:18a, NLT)

Dear Christian, I write to you. If you understand Mercy, you will understand what has just happened to Maryam Sanda. You will also understand it in relation to the adulterous woman set free by Jesus Christ. Then, I want you to understand all of this in the light of what Jesus Christ did for you!

Again, I don’t know constitutionality, legality, or morality, and please don’t ask me, but I know clemency. Clemency, or Mercy, saved me. It’s the PREROGATIVE of the Person who gave it to me!
