Have you heard the radio jingle by the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) against underage cigarette sale? It is by far the best drug advocacy tool I have heard on that matter since the days of ‘Smoking is dangerous to health’. Danceable because of its rhythm and finesse, the music production appeals to the young generation.
What about its lyrics, that’s what caught my attention. It says something about an ‘egbon adugbo, a street elder brother’ who doesn’t have anything to offer, ‘only smoke na the things he dey send me…But I have dreams… No send me buy cigar…’
Kindly listen to the jingle, you will love it. You will dance to the groove as you listen to the content.
Meanwhile, let me add that the suspension of the Executive Vice Chairman/CEO of that government agency, FCCPC, Babatunde Irukera doesn’t sit right with me. And I feel that agency has achieved the most impact under his leadership. Before him, I doubt if many Nigerians knew that agency existed. Is Irukera’s another case of ‘corruption fighting back’?
