As the Covenant University, founded by Bishop David Oyedepo hit a remarkable milestone emerging Nigeria’s best university and sixth in West Africa and Sub-Saharan Africa according to the Times Higher Education World Universities Ranking 2025, the Founder and Chancellor Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo has hinted that he drew immense inspiration from world ranking universities to birth one of Nigeria’s foremost private universities.
The Chairman of the Board of Regents of Covenant University, Oyedepo revealed that he had to understudy nine world-class foreign universities, including Harvard, Princeton, Yale, Columbia, Caltech, MIT, Stanford, Duke, and Dartmouth, to establish Covenant University.
According to the Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide, Bishop David Olaniyi Oyedepo, this strategic approach has paid off, as Covenant University solidifies its position as a leading institution in Nigeria and West Africa, providing students with top-notch education.
Bishop Oyedepo said, ‘While nothing was copied, a lot of inspiration was drawn from those studies, which eventually led to the crafting of our core values, making our products very unique. My passion came alive to provide an alternative education, in terms of quality, that would rescue these young individuals from lifelong crises.’
