This morning, I wrote about CONSISTENCY of actions, and submitted that, with CONSISTENT action, we’re practically unstoppable. Now, consider how the NLC strike brought everything to a halt in Nigeria within 24 hours. Even the deaf, irresponsible leadership in the executive and legislature, at Abuja, was forced to reconsider their insensitivity, and mellowed their tone with the workers.
Once again, we ALL have seen that, IF WE REALLY WANT TO, WE CAN TAKE POWER FROM THESE WICKED men and women in leadership, by just refusing to work, FOR AS LONG AS IT WOULD TAKE. That’s what PASSIVE RESISTANCE is all about. The NLC can force any tyrant leadership out of power by simply putting down their tools. But, will this Ajaero led NLC go that route with these mindless regime?
To the discerning, it’s apparent that higher minimum wage, (even if 500K becomes the minimum wage), will not solve the problem. NO! The NLC SHOULD RESOLUTELY DEMAND FOR MASSIVE REDUCTION IN COST OF GOVERNANCE IN NIGERIA, namely: senators salary should be slashed to N500K per month, and all allowances/fringe benefits withdrawn.
Whoever is not pleased with that should return to his/her constituency. At least, they are supposed to be representing and serving us; and when their service (lack of service, actually) is more injurious than beneficial, let them leave, or bow to the terms of the people. That is what the NLC, and the entire NIGERIAN populace, should fight for. Minimum wage will never be enough without MAXIMUM REPRESENTATION and SERVICE in the National Assembly. There’s no other way!
NB: I have been reliably informed that it was Tinubu and Akpabio that composed the song ‘DEM GO FEEL IT’ for Davido. ‘Tooo, afi k’Oluwa shanu fun wa loku bayi o!’
