Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced the establishment of six Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Parks across the country to promote indigenous innovation, digital entrepreneurship, and economic development.

The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr Aminu Maida, who made this known in Daura, Katsina State, during the official handover of an ICT Park to the Federal University of Transport Technology, Daura, said the initiative aligns with the national policy to harness the economic potential of the ICT sector by providing incubation centers that foster homegrown technological solutions.
“Technology is the biggest driver of economic growth and development in the 21st century, and for Nigeria, it represents the most viable pathway to economic transformation,” he stated.
According to Maida, each ICT park is equipped with high-speed and high-capacity computers, smart networking systems, and simulation rooms to support research, innovation, and socio-economic advancement.
Maida noted that the Daura ICT Park includes five ICT hub halls, a 24-seat laboratory with eight double computer workstations, a 100-seat capacity conference hall, and multiple workspaces and offices.
Maida also said, the facilities is designed to incubate indigenous technological solutions while supporting education in railway engineering, logistics, and transportation management.
“Our goal is to create an ecosystem where cutting-edge ICT infrastructure supports research, skills development, and advanced education in fields including railway, marine, and air transport engineering,” Maida added.
NCC boss equally encouraged students, researchers, and members of the wider Daura community to utilize the facility to drive technological innovation and local content development.
The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Transport Technology, Prof. Umar Katsayal, expressed appreciation to the NCC, assuring that the facility would be fully utilized for research, training, simulations, and other academic activities.
Prof Katsayal also pledged that the university would ensure the proper maintenance and security of the ICT park to prevent vandalism and misuse.
