MTN Nigeria has reinforced its commitment to gender equity and inclusive growth with its partnership for the 2025 SheCan Do More Conference. SheCan Nigeria is a movement for today’s woman to realize her potential by empowering, educating and transforming her to do more. Through its annual conference, mentorship programmes, and strategic partnerships, the initiative promotes education, entrepreneurship, leadership, and personal development for women across Nigeria.

Representing MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, Funke Alabi, General Manager, Business Intelligence, said the company’s involvement in SheCan is more than a symbolic partnership. “At MTN, we believe growth only has meaning when it is inclusive,” Alabi said.

“That’s why we are so proud to be aligning with SheCan Nigeria, a movement that sees the same world we do: one where women are not only visible but audible, not only invited but empowered.”

She outlined MTN’s efforts to back that belief with action, pointing to initiatives such as Y’ellopreneur, which supports women entrepreneurs with funding and business training, and Women in Tech, which equips women with skills in AI, cybersecurity, and data science. She also highlighted the Y’ello Mums Internship Programme, designed to help young mothers re-enter the workforce.

She also noted MTN’s recent UN Women Award and the company’s 41.4 percent female leadership representation. According to her, this is the result of deliberate internal policies and a company culture that values inclusion and results. “This is more than a partnership. It is a vow to the millions of women who are ready to do better, lead better, and be better,” she said.

MTN’s Chief Marketing Officer, Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka, will also speak at the main conference, leading a session titled ‘Doing More for Career Advancement’, which will explore how women can move forward professionally while navigating leadership, visibility, and workplace change.

Founder of SheCan Nigeria, Ezinne Ezeani, also spoke at the event, providing background on the growth of the movement and offering a preview of what attendees can expect at this year’s conference.

She noted that SheCan has become a rallying point for women seeking tools, knowledge, and community support to transform their personal and professional lives. “At SheCan, we believe in the power of women. We believe in the power of doing more. SheCan Nigeria seeks to educate, empower, and transform. We preach that as a woman, you can do more, you can do more irrespective of your background.”

Ezeani explained that this year’s conference will feature three focused panel sessions covering purpose, business and career, and wholeness. The event will also include mentorship clinics, networking sessions, and one-on-one engagement with industry experts. Ezeani said SheCan is built around the idea of helping women access the tools, stories, and support they need to transform their lives and communities. As of early July, more than 5,700 women had registered.

The SheCan Do More 6.0 Conference will take place on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the Balmoral Convention Centre in Lagos.

With the support of MTN Nigeria and other sponsors, the conference aims to equip more Nigerian women with the confidence, skills, and resources to push beyond societal limitations and achieve lasting impact.
