Earlier today, Monday 20th January, 2025, the newly inaugurated Leadership of Lagos State House of Assembly, under the auspices of Madam Speaker, Rt. Hon. Princess Lasbat Meranda paid a courtesy visit to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his Deputy, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat at the government house.

Other members of the Assembly delegate include the Deputy Speaker, Hon. Fatai Mojeed Adebola; the Majority Leader, Hon. Adewale Temitope; the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Adedamola Richard Kasunmu; Chief Whip, Hon. David Setonji; and Deputy Whip, Hon. Ganiyu Sanni Okanlawon.

Visits like this symbolizes the robust synergy between the Executive and Legislative arms of Government required to achieve the greater Lagos vision, it also reinforces the fact that the principle of separation of powers can be maintained to deliver topnotch governance for the benefit of the people.

Kudos to the Madam Speaker and the new House Leadership for charting a new course. Special thanks to Mr. Governor, his Deputy, and the state EXCO for the warm welcome.

TheMediaGood Newspaper restates that the new Lagos Speaker, Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat Meranda becomes the second ever Speaker of a State House of Assembly in Nigeria. She follows Hon. Margaret Icheen who was the Speaker of the Benue House of Assembly from 1999-2003. Nigeria has also produced a female Speaker of her Federal House of Representatives in Hon. Patricia Etteh who served from June to October 2007.
