The Ologba of Ogba Kingdom in Lagos, His Royal Majesty Oba Latif Oladimeji Egbeyemi, has bagged a Master of Science degree (Msc) in Surveying and Geoinformatics from the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

The monarch was among the 16,590 students celebrated during UNILAG’s 55th convocation ceremonies, held from January 14 to 16, 2025. The event saw 9,865 students awarded first degrees and diplomas, 6,446 students earning Master’s degrees, and 213 graduates receiving Ph.D. degrees. This is in addition to a total of 66 students who graduated from the UNILAG Business School.

A member of the Nigerian Institution of Surveying (MNIS), Oba Egbeyemi also earned his first degree from UNILAG. He previously worked with the Lagos State Government in the Office of the Surveyor-General before voluntarily retiring to focus on private practice.

Residents and indigenes of Ogba Kingdom have praised the monarch for his academic accomplishment. In a statement, they congratulated him, describing his achievement as an inspiration and testament to his dedication to education, urban planning, and sustainable development.

According to media release, congratulating the Kabiesi, the people wished him continued success, good health, and wisdom to lead Ogba Kingdom to greater heights, affirming that his journey through life is a testament to the power of education and resilience.

The convocation was led by UNILAG Vice-Chancellor, Professor Folasade Ogunsola, with Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) serving as Pro-Chancellor and His Royal Eminence, Alhaji (Dr.) Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi, the Shehu of Borno, as Chancellor. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the institution’s Visitor.
