I just returned from the ‘United States of America.’ If you don’t believe me, check my DP, and you’ll see me posing with the Statue of Liberty. Na Lekki we take enter USA, na Ebute-Metta we take return.
Well, like I wrote recently, we’re conducting a training at the American Corner (AC) Lekki; and being on that premises is just like being in the USA. This afternoon, we were given a tour of the AC office: the library, the green room, the studio, et al. Such a beautiful ambience, and it’s made available free of charge to all that register with them. On my own, I have toured the bigger facility where the AC office is domiciled, and I’m greatly impressed with the neatness, creativity, and security, that characterize the 21st Century Technologies domain. ‘Ori awon people yen pe!’
I have walked round, and walked into offices with unimaginably beautiful furniture and creative stuffs, with doors always unlocked – even where there are no workers – because there are cameras in strategic locations, and I’m sure someone has eyes on ‘Wakandas’ like me.
To SECURE A PLACE IS NOT THAT DIFFICULT TO DO. NO! YOU ONLY NEED WILLING AND SENSIBLE PEOPLE IN THE RIGHT PLACES. That’s all! The blood of every NIGERIAN, shed by terrorists and kidnappers, is on the heads and homes of our political leaders (and possibly, religious leaders too), because THEY DIDN’T DO THE NEEDFUL! One senator’s annual wage is enough to put cameras in strategic locations, pan NIGERIA, and that’s no exaggeration. JEHOVAH will not hold them guiltless o!
I’m particularly impressed with what I’ve seen here (and so must the American Government, to have situated AC here) because 21st Century Technologies is OUR OWN thing (Na we own), unlike the multinationals with their usual, well known ‘awayish’ premises. My thinking is, “IF 21st CENTURY IS POSSIBLE IN NIGERIA, THEN, WITH RIGHT THINKING LEADERSHIP, A NEW AND PROGRESSIVE NIGERIA IS VERY POSSIBLE!” It is not hard at all! But, to make it happen, NIGERIANS MUST DEVELOP THE COURAGE and BOLDNESS to HOLD THEIR LEADERS (political and spiritual) ACCOUNTABLE and RESPONSIBLE to them, and their collective treasury, be it national or parishional. We must begin to say “NO” to nonentities in leadership, and begin to SHOUT “YES” to the likes of men and women who built 21st Century Technologies. That’s how to end the suffering in the land.
Selah!
