Seeing movies is one activity I do to relax, anytime I have the opportunity to do so. And I love to watch movies that will be value for time, I mean, approx. 2-3 hours is not small time in the day of a human.
So I recently watched a movie – a true story – with the title ‘Ige’ produced by Toyin Abraham and I enjoyed watching it. The movie set in the 1980/90s is basically the grass to grace story of a young man who braved the odds. You may check it out.
A particular scene that stood out for me was when the young man got his girlfriend pregnant out of wedlock and he contemplated abortion because he got a proper dress-down from the lady’s Aunty. When they got to the hospital to proceed with the act, none of the couple could step down from the car. It was fear. How do we explain what we need in the hospital? That’s how they drove off immediately.
I smiled and thought, it was tough back then to seek an abortion. The society frowns at the act as ungodly, inhuman, and murderous. The people who aborted then did it covertly, mostly with quacks, or through unwholesome traditional practices and some ladies paid the supreme sacrifice in the process.
Today, our society is neither here nor there on abortion, though it claims to frown at it, at least openly. But that wasn’t the case in the 1980/90s. How we degenerated to the point that abortion is now permissible is a topic for another day.
I know there are arguments for abortion, medical cases being most agreeable but I affirm that life is sacrosanct. If you cannot create the breath of life, you cannot retract the breath of life. I am PRO-LIFE! WHAT ABOUT YOU?
