HAVE YOU LEARNT TO SERVE?

Share

Service is an action word. It is the act of helping or doing work for someone. Service is helping others who need assistance, either for free or for a fee.

The decision to write this piece began with a quote I saw yesterday. It reads, “Service is the soul of leadership. When you put others first, you inspire them to do the same.” – Belinda Nwosu

Service is the SOUL of LEADERSHIP, and it inspires others to do the same. We are what we are, as a nation, because many of us want to be served and not to SERVE. Our ATTITUDE to SERVICE needs to CHANGE in Nigeria – top to bottom!

Think on the following quotes, reflect, recalibrate and recreate – CHANGE!

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” – Mahatma Gandhi.

“The end of all knowledge should be service to others.” – Cesar Chavez.

“Everybody can be great because everybody can serve.” – Martin Luther King, Jr.

“Strive not to be a success, but rather to be of value.” – Albert Einstein.

“What you do has far greater impact than what you say.” – Steven Covey.

“Service is what prayer looks like when it gets up off its knees and walks around in the world.” – Michael J. Graham

“To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.” – Douglas Adams.

“There is nothing more beautiful than someone who goes out of their way to make life beautiful for others.” – Unknown.

“Service to others is the rent you pay for your room here on earth.” – Maya Angelou.

“When you serve others, you are working on yourselves; every act, every word, every gesture of genuine compassion naturally nourishes our own hearts as well.” – Wayne Muller.

“Those who are happiest are those who do the most for others.” – Unknown.

“Service, in short, is not what you do, but who you are.” – Annette Franz.
