President of Senegal
After the delays and uncertainties which attended the decision of President Macky Sall to postpone the elections scheduled for February to December 2024 in West Africa’s most stable democracy, Senegal and the consequent domestic riots and international pressure, Senegal is finally ready for its presidential elections on Sunday 24th March 2024.
After bowing to pressure, TheMediaGood Newspaper can report that the contenders to Macky Sall’s current seat are 19 in number, which is the highest in Senegal’s history. Top on the list of the candidates in the race is popular opposition candidate, Ousmane Sonko. Others are Idrissa Seck, Khalifa Sall, and lone female presidential candidate, Anta Babacar Ngom.
The presidential elections this weekend are expected to be largely peaceful. However, if there is no clear winner at the Sunday polls, there would be a run-off elections.
