In a significant gesture to honour the bravery, sacrifices and service of the officers and soldiers of 2 Battalion, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) 1 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1 Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Mayirenso Lander David Saraso has commissioned the newly constructed 2 Battalion Quarter Guard, Guard House, Cenotaph and the unit Mascot house on 15 January 2025 at the Battalion Headquarters, Ribadu Cantonment Kaduna. TheMediaGood Newspaper obtained this information from the press release of the acting Deputy Director Army Public Relations 1 Division Nigerian Army, Lt. Col Musa Adams Yahaya.
In his welcome remarks at the event, the Commanding Officer 2 Battalion , Lieutenant Colonel Abdulkadir Abdullahi stated that the Quarter Guard Project was conceptualized due to its proximity to the battalion headquarters and main gate, as well as to enhance unit regimentation and discipline while the guard house and RSM’s office were constructed to provide a comfortable working environment for the unit RSM and Quarter Guard troops.
In his demonstration of compassion and support for the welfare of the families of the battalion’s fallen heroes, Major General Saraso announced a generous donation for the support and upkeep of their families. He also presented some gift items to the widows on behalf of the Commanding Officer.
The commissioning ceremony was marked by the symbolic cutting of the ribbon by Major General Saraso, followed by the donation of funds to the designated beneficiaries which include deserving officers and soldiers whose efforts were instrumental in the completion of the project.
The event also included a tour of the new facility and group photographs to commemorate the occasion.
