FIRST LADY TINUBU HOSTS WOMEN TO IFTAR, STRESSES ‘COMPASSION, MERCY’ AT RAMADAN AND BEYOND

The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Shade Tinubu CON has hosted an Iftar – breaking of fast session – for women in various top government positions across Nigeria. TheMediaGood Newspaper observed that Iftar which holds evening of each day of the holy month of Ramadan signals the end of fast for that day. The event hosted by the First Lady took place at the State House Abuja on Thursday 6th February 2025.

In her brief remarks at the event, the First Lady assured Nigerians that the nation is on the path of full recovery. She enjoined Nigerians from all sectors of society to be hopeful that in no distant future, Nigeria would be better.

Sen. Tinubu hinted that the topic of the Iftar lecture, Role of Compassion and Mercy in Human Relations, is a reminder to everyone to just go ahead and do good though it is sometimes difficult but it must be done in worship to Almighty Allah without seeking acknowledgment or validation from the beneficiaries.

Delivering the Iftar lecture, Head of Islamic Studies Department, University of Ilorin, Prof Azeezat Adebayo described compassion and mercy as the bedrock of human relations, with the month of Ramadan as a special time of training in the twin virtues.

She said during this Holy month, good deeds should not be limited to members of the Islamic faith alone as this is the only way the doers will have good reward.

The press release of the SSA Media to the First Lady, Busola Kukoyi highlighted that top women present at the Iftar include former First Lady Dame Patience Jonathan, Wife of the Vice President, Hajia Nana Shettima; Wife of the Speaker House of Representatives, Hajia Fatima Tajudeen Abass; Wives of State Governors; Female Ministers; Wives of Ministers and wives of Service Chiefs.
