Dr. Ruth L. Gottesman, 93-year old Professor and widow of a Wall Street financier has donated the sum of US$ 1 billion to the Albert Einstein Medical School, Bronx, New York, USA. This is as a support to cover the tuition of students in the school.
This handsome donation drawn from the fortune of her late husband, David Gottesman is one of the largest ever philanthropy to education in the United States.
Ruth was once a Professor of paediatrics in the medical school. She also ran literacy programs while there.
She currently sits as Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Albert Einstein Medical School.
